Today I'll share a favourite record--a Gothic Blues release by The Pallbearers. They strike me as a band David Lynch would use throughout one of his films, or have play in a roadhouse dive during a disturbing scene. Phantom Pain is the band's one release, First Stone Records, 1993. I usually spin 1-3 songs of theirs in a night when I DJ, and always get someone asking about the disc. Vocalist Julia Gilmore seems to have some strange hold on me--such a haunting voice, and decent range of attack on the material. The band was once known as "Condition," but I find little to nothing more about them. One source mentions the original trio performed in the art film Memoirs (1984), produced by the National Film Board of Canada. Get the album Here.

hey fritz! frankie teardrop of the funeral crashers here, and i stumbled here through another reputed mp3 blog. i just kicked off this one, systems of romance...and i'm focusing on post-punk, minimal wave, etc.
how's all?
Hello Fritz, yes it was a short trip, way too short but I could only get 2 weeks vacation. I'll PM you soon through the DR board.
stunning album, great!
Just got around listening to this album. Beautiful!
Glad you guys are liking this--wish there was a second album, but this meets that certain 'need' for this sound in my collection.
Hi there Fritz, really great blog
you have going on over here.
I'm dying for you to re-up this
album; I can't seem to find it
anywhere else. Greatly appreciated.
Dante, my pleasure to replace any outdated uploads.
Enjoy.
I can definitely see why this would
be an all time favorite.
Thank you for reuploading it for
everyone who wishes to give a listen
to them and explore such tastes.
Thank you as well for reupping other
albums on the blog. I was glad to
notice you doing so.
first time I've heard about this band and from the first listen they sound awesome to me! to be honest I expected somewhat clichéed. how wrong I was.
thank you!
btw, the name of Julia Gilmore appears here:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087707/fullcredits#cast
so the source can be right about the band and that movie from 1984.
Mika,
I have a Condition album that I need to listen and post. Phoenix Hairpins has a song or two on a VA sampler "Montreal" that he posted. Check my links.
Glad you like this release!

If you get a chance, could you re-up this? The link is very dead. Thank you.
